Voting Day

Last Sunday, I took part in Mexican mid-term elections as a 'funcionario de casilla' (polling station official), specifically 'segundo escrutador' (poll watcher or scrutineer; feel free to chime in if you can think of a better translation!) It was a LONG and HOT day here in southern Mexico City, but the new experience was absolutely worth it. Thankfully, the election day at our polling station was peaceful and free of violence. Many other polling places were not as lucky. Regardless of what is in store for the country, I'm hopeful that these elections helped make Mexico's future a bit little brighter!
