XTRF
XTRF is a translation management system that organizes our daily operations. We use it to log everything we do, automate, manage and monitor projects, invoice clients and keep tabs on the bills from the team members and external vendors. The system takes many routine operations off our hands, such as reminding our translators or team members of upcoming due dates. Every past project is saved in the XTRF cloud, so if you need to dig out a translation delivered years ago, rest assured we have it on file (unless you ask us not to store it for reasons of confidentiality).

memoQ
In our daily translation work, we use an application called memoQ, which belongs to a class of computer programs known as CAT (computer-assisted translation) or TeNT (translation environment tools). These programs streamline the translation process by helping linguists focus on what’s important: the text. They do it by presenting the content to be translated in a single editing environment. The best part is the that the formatting is not stripped, but rather stays “hidden” until the project is wrapped up; the program then recreates the original document as a translated file with the original layout. These tools also simplify the linguists’ job by helping them choose correct and consistent terminology and phrasing.

Other tools we use
RWS (previously SDL) Trados Studio is the main and the oldest competition to memoQ in the translation world. While we don’t use it in our daily operations, we do own a license for Trados and know how to use it efficiently.
We are also familiar with many online translation environments such as XTM, SmartCat or memsource. If you use another tool, we would be happy to consider incorporating it into our workflow.
We use many specialized macros for Microsoft Office apps that help us format or otherwise improve the final documents.
ABBYY FineReader is often a first step in converting scanned and other uneditable documents to a format that can be processed by translation environment tools.
