The Sensus Team is a young and passionate translator collective. Initially led by Eva Villarreal with Grigori Gazarian as her right hand and project manager, it has been coming together since 2017, when the team had its first translation project. Since then we’ve translated nearly 2 million words for a wide range of clients. Eventually, Eva decided to focus on projects of her own, including a fledgling career as a voice talent, passing the reins of the team over to Grigori.
Originally from Moscow, Russia, where he had studied journalism and took his first steps in Spanish at the Moscow State University, Grigori moved to Mexico City in 1996. He started his professional career as a translator shortly before graduating from the Instituto Superior de Intérpretes y Traductores in 2002. This was the time when the translator community was only beginning to adopt technology in their daily work. Grigori had dabbled with computer science and programming in high school, so it was only natural that he would embrace the changes. After working as a freelance translator for a Mexican publishing house (where he translated almost 20 books and authored a short biography of one of his favorite Mexican writers) and an in-house translator for a number of companies, he got interested in translation project management and related areas. Some 10 years and 10,000 projects later, it became clear that the time was right to start flying solo. The Sensus Team was formally born.
The Sensus Team is a company and a collective, whose members work and play together just as hard. We are brought together by our love of languages and our passion to deliver quality translation work. A small team by design, we prefer to focus on projects we believe we can reasonably tackle and do well. We don't offer translations to all languages of the world, or accept unrealistic turnarounds; but what we do promise, we deliver.

Eva Villarreal
EVA VILLARREAL
Eva doesn't take no for an answer. As a descendant from the state of Veracruz—known, among other things, for its women who are more than comfortable with grabbing any number of bulls by their horns—Eva prefers dealing with problems head-on, horns or no horns.
With a keen zest for life, Eva has collected all types of experiences, from working as a dancer in a wedding band and a model for hair and fashion stylists all the way to learning how to handle a firearm and training as a boxer. She earned a degree in Translation from the Universidad Intercontinental in her native Mexico City and spent a cold season in Montreal studying the intricacies of Québécois along with the equally complicated art of navigating icy sidewalks before resurfacing in the corporate world some years later at HSBC Mexico as a translator and interpreter, first in-house and later as a freelancer.
Today, Eva divides her time between making use of her skills as a banking and finance translator and editor, singing to sizzling jazz tunes and enjoying afternoon runs in her favorite Mexico City parks. Oh, and working through a course of Voiceover & Dubbing, her next profession of choice! Would the next bull please step forward?
SELENE BÁEZ
A Mexico City native, Selene started her academic training at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where she majored in Latin American Studies before completing a degree in translation from the Instituto Superior de Intérpretes y Traductores. She has worked as an in-house and freelance translator for over 10 years. Selene is well-versed in a number of computer-assisted translation tools (such as memoQ and Trados Studio) as well as industry-standard subtitling software tools, Aegisub and SubtitleEdit.
Thanks to her command of English and Spanish grammar and vocabulary and excellent research skills, Selene has gained invaluable experience in proofreading and polishing other people’s translations. She loves learning new things, maintains a positive, cheerful and participative attitude, and is looking forward to completing her graduate thesis soon for a degree in terminology.
Claudia Nájera
CLAUDIA NÁJERA
Like many of her peers, Claudia studied translation in the Instituto Superior de Intérpretes y Traductores, and has been refining her art ever since. She loves translating as a way of finding inner peace.
Claudia specializes in medical and academic translations, but she’s not afraid to sink her teeth into any subject and not let go until she’s satisfied with the result. Sometimes her perfectionism gets in the way, but she’s learned to tame that beast and make it work for her and others! Claudia is a big believer in teamwork and close personal communication as a means of achieving the right result.
Claudia lives in the City of Eternal Spring, Cuernavaca, with her two kids and three dogs, and loves watching TV with her family and reading in her spare time.
CARLOS Chávez
Carlos grew up in the State of Mexico (Ciudad Satélite), Mexico, where he spent many happy hours watching movies at the now-repurposed mammoth Apolo cinema, studying languages and playing video games.
He graduated from the Instituto Superior de Intérpretes y Traductores in 2014 with a thesis on Creating a subtitling model for the Deaf and the HoH in Mexico, holds a Master of Arts degree in Film Studies from the Casa Lamm Cultural Center that he completed in 2019 with a short film called "Diamantes para el compromiso" and is currently working on a new short film.
Carlos loves travelling and taking hundreds of pictures! When he's not working, he spends time with his wife and their pugs. He enjoys playing videogames and board games with family and friends, sharing photos on Instagram and making film reviews on Letterboxd.
Carlos Chávez
